Salted Brown Butter Rice Crispy Treats

Need something to take to a Labor Day picnic this weekend? This is it!!! I made three batches of  these over the last 2 weekends to take to parties and within 1 hour of the "dessert" tables opening, they were gone! I made sure I grabbed one each time so I could indulge. They are beyond just regular rice crispy treats...the salt and brown butter are amazing! Seriously, you must make them!

1 stick unsalted butter
10 oz bag marshmellows
heaping 1/4 tsp coarse sea salt
6 cups Rice Krispies cereal

Spray a 13x9 inch with cooking spray and set aside. In a large pot, melt the butter over medium-low heat until it's browned. Don't worry, it's going to take a little time. First the butter will melt, then it gets foamy. It will turn into a clear golden and finally start to turn brown. Scrap the bottom of the pot to get any bits up. The butter will start to smelly nutty. Take care not to take your eyes off it at as it will burn quickly.

As soon as the butter turns a nutty color, turn off the heat and stir in the marshmellows. Melt the marshmellows. Once the marshmellows are melted, remove the pot from the heat. Add in the salt and cereal. Stir quickly to combine. Spread the sticky mixture in the prepared pan. Let cool and cut into squares.
